Movement is the act of moving, the most general description of using our bodies. Walking is movement, playing piano is movement, dance is movement, bench pressing is movement. Fitness is only a tiny part of movement. Fitness is not bad, it’s just limited. Movement is a generalist approach. It is the, be above average in most things and exceptional in a few approach. Culture is the ideas, customs and social behaviour of a group of people. So movement culture is simply the ideas, customs and social behaviours of people who have movement as a central part of their life.
Movement Culture is about the people. Its people interested in learning more about the body, their own bodies. Its people who want to learn about health, longevity, human performance and the expression of the human body and all the things that relate to it.
It is about the thought process and philosophies behind moving and being better at what you do. Most importantly it is about ACTION. It is about doing, its moving, it’s improving.
There are so many areas of movement and teachers of different aspects of it. From different sports to dance, martial arts, CrossFit, yoga, etc. The goal is to share information. To learn from various disciplines. To help us all as a collectively to improve, whether it is to perform in sport or just to be a more capable human. We are in the information age. It is easier than ever to be able to learn from someone on the other side of the world. So let’s learn, share and improve together.
If you are an athlete, student, office worker, parent, grandparent, whoever. We all can benefit from better movement. This is Movement Culture, this is what we represent.
PS. In the next post we define ourselves. What is Enso Movement Culture?
