It’s Valentine’s Day it’s a time to celebrate love and romance. A time to buy flowers and show that special someone that you care over and above what you do every day. In the spirit of the day let’s talk about love in another way. You have to love your training! If you don’t you are on a stupid path. The goal is important but you are going to spend more time working towards the goal than you are at the goal and when we reach it we usually find a new goal to chase. In some cases you might not even reach the goal (depending on how high you set your goal) so you better love the journey.
Training is such a malleable process. It is literally fake work that we give ourselves to get stronger and fitter because our lives are pretty easy and most of us would become weak blobs if all we did was our day to day. Yes it’s a bit different if you’re an athlete, but the truth is you have a goal you have a plan and then you work. So make the work enjoyable. There are many ways to skin a cat and I don’t know how true that is, I’m not a cat skinning expert, but there are many ways to train. In this I do have some experience. Some methods might be more effective, but the most effective method is the one you actually do and we generally tend to do the shit that we enjoy. So enjoy what you do.
There are many ways to get joy out of training and I could elaborate on them later but main point is: ENJOY THE HUSTLE. Enjoy what you do, enjoy training, enjoy work, enjoy life. If you don’t, change things so that you do (TIP: the first and the easiest thing to change is your attitude. Read this)
