Everybody wants that one easy infomercial type thing to get fit, strong and look good, and the reality is that there are tons of those things out there. It can be bodyweight, rings, or even boxing. The one thing that gets you there is your mind. The power of your mind-set is the telling factor in you getting the results you want. The intent behind what you do makes it effective - this is even more important than what you do. A shitty program done with vicious intent will always be more effective than the best program done with little intent. This is why people become world champions with minimal tools. The best are the best because of their mind-set, BECAUSE OF THEIR CULTURE. This is what Enso is about and forms part of what our culture represents.
We move with intent and do things with purpose. How you do it is always more important than what you do.
We want to be capable, we want to thrive under the demands that life gives us, mentally and physically. We use training and movement to develop this. The mental and physical are so closely linked, a lot closer than most people think. There is no mind and body, there is no separation. There is only body, there is only YOU.
The world is chaotic. Few things are perfectly streamlined and precise and things don’t go to plan in many situations across many different domains; in sport and in life. We exist to be resilient to chaos, to thrive in this crazy and exciting thing called life.
No one gets out alive so there’s no need to be serious all the time. We started life with this inborn nature to play. It wasn’t the toys or things, we lived to play. The tools didn’t matter. We just played to have fun. And through playing we learned. We nurtured our creativity through play and we got stronger through play. We turned play into sport and forgot about the play part. It started with play and then it became about the sport. Sport is great but don’t forget about play. We need to play more. Play is not necessarily easy. It can be hard, challenging, and even frustrating at times, but also fun, silly and expansive. Play engages the physical and the cognitive, and bridges the separation that we created with exercises, sets, and reps. Now we need exercise to correct the imbalances we created with lifestyle.

Balance is not equal, it is skewed. We represent a balance that is skewed towards ability not an illusion of it. We take the good things from many elements of physical culture and bring them together to develop the qualities that are important to us. Like Bruce Lee said, “Absorb what is useful, discard what is useless and add what is uniquely your own”.
We are ever evolving. We are here to grow and get better. We learn through our process. That might mean discarding tools that we previously believed in because we have found new and better methods. But we are not about tools. We are about principles. Principles are universal and they are the idea behind the execution. We are here to be better every day.
Food for thought
The Japanese always seem to have a word for everything, especially words that encompasses a concept. These are three that we find fitting:
Shoshin means "beginner's mind". It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would. We are always learning with the open mind of a beginner
Zanshin is a state of awareness, of relaxed alertness in Japanese martial arts. A literal translation of zanshin is "remaining mind". Be relaxed but aware. Being present and alert irrespective of whether the outcome has been reached or not. Like the great samurai Miyamoto Musashi said, “Let your combat stance be your everyday stance”.
Kaizen is the Japanese word for "continual improvement ". Better every day!
