Even though this is a timeless tale, this post is not about romance and movies. It’s about effectivity. In military usage a force multiplier is some thing or a combination of things that enhances the effectiveness of an item or group. This is the topic today, things that enhance your effectiveness. I see force multipliers as things that make you more effective at your life. I can only talk about my own experience and in doing so I hope it can help you enhance yours. Kind of like a force multiplier (see what I did there).
Get a notebook
This is my number one pick, if I had to choose one thing that made me better at the things I do. It is having a notebook. It is really simple. All it is, is having something on you to write stuff down.
… Everything. I write almost everything down. I use it to make tons of notes
· To do lists
· Brain dumping
The act of writing something down has a special power, it puts this though out there. There for you to see, to act on.
One of the best things I realised with having notebooks is when I review them once I’ve filled one up (I’ve gone through a few of them) Usually when I write down an idea I will end up writing that same idea/ thought down again later, but from a different angle or with different insights. This usually happens a few times. What happens in the end is that you see the same idea from various angles and you end up with a more complete picture than you had initially, because you wouldn’t be able to imagine the whole concept from all those angles at once. That could just be me though.
Having a to do list and being able to check things off is pretty cool as well. It gives you small victories that you can celebrate and that allows you to build momentum. Having a place where your goals are written down, where you can see it. Is a great reminder and can help with your motivation.
The moral of the story is write things down. Have something on you to write things down when you think of it, because if you don’t do it then you will forget. There are so many things that distract us we can’t remember all the little details that we think of. The force multiplier is not the book it is writing shit down. So do it!
